I was listening to episode 43 when Roland starts arguing his item choices on support Omni. Soul Ring is a good item for him but should not be used to last hit or to clear a creep wave. One of the biggest things I wanted to say is this... as a support if you are doing anything to push the creep wave farther away from your tower you should stop doing that. This can include autoattacking enemy creeps (doesn't matter what position you are...), not attacking friendly creeps (which you can start doing when the friendly creep is <50% health), or spamming spells (even if it is "free" from soul ring) that hurt/kill creeps. Accidentally getting last hits with a clutch heal on your carry is ok. Healing your carry at 3/4 HP when they are near the creeps farming not ok. Soul ring is great for that clutch heal moment when you are out of mana because you have been healing in team fight/repelling/ulting and heal comes of cooldown but you need mana. Pop soul ring, heal carry, win fight, win game, ez game ez rares.

Well said and I agree - I think you highlight some of the really early-level-play uses of Soul Ring and then bring in the more advanced layer by taking into consideration the pros/cons of some more advanced mechanics (lane pushing). Thanks for the information and providing a sign posts for new support players utilizing soul ring for mana. Remember, clutch plays are what that baby's for. Don't be doin S**t that pushes the lane, that doesn't benefit anyone in the long run. GG Fraggingboot!

Learning how to control creep equilibrium is arguably the most important aspect of the laning stage; knowing when to deny aggressively or auto-attack is a careful balance. You want to keep the creep line (where dire/radiant creeps meet) in a spot advantageous to you, i.e. right above where the river meets lane for radiant off-lane or right below where the river meets lane for dire offlane. This type of mechanical thing is something you can practice and develop an understanding for playing single player bot games / lobbies without bots!
